WHOOOPS! CMON Annual 2012

WHOOOPS! I could have been in the CMON Annual 2012 But I missed a private message back in June asking for high res pics of my images.   I just found it today only because I got a comment on one of my other entries and I figured I would log in to see what I missed.  Looks like quite a bit.

I wish they would have sent me an email instead of a message through their system. I wonder how many other people missed out.

So here are the miniatures they wanted to feature. While you are looking through your copy you can pretend these are in there.

So I haven't updated in a while but I assure you that I am working on painting just not as often as I would like.  I have an amazing piece on my work bench and I've been so busy I haven't had time to get to him.  I will update soon, I promise.

Lady Usher - SMOG

A little something new Lady Usher from Smart Max's SMOG line.  She was wonderful to paint I quite enjoyed it.   Originally I had planned to put her in an overly complicated clock tower scene but after working it over and over and not having it work I decided for something a little simpler, A red marble floor seemed proper.
Also who ever designed those fairies holding her cape sucks, I feel bad for the sculptor (JAG) having to sculpt them. They are thin and tiny and painting them was difficult because I pretty much had to lay them on a paper towel paint one side, let it dry then paint the other side.  I need to go back over them but just touching them with a paint brush worries me as they are only held onto her cape with a spot of zap a gap and that is it. They are too tiny to pin but thankfully they are light enough that the spot of glue is holding up well.  But let's just say she won't be doing any traveling to the local game shop for display any time soon.
I have a little bit of touch ups i need to do on her parasol and her cape as I noticed some paint rubbed off when I was handling her and I smudged a line.. whooops. .   Anyways I hope you enjoy her as much as I do.

X'Stacy - Finished

Yay! I was finally able to grab a few hours and fix all the issues I found from before.  I blended her skin tones a bit more to my liking, I detailed a bunch of little bits and I also trimmed off those pigment covered grass strands.
This time around I used a background color that worked a lot better with the mood of the figure. I'm much happier with it now.

Also you might enjoy a quick snap shot of my light box set up for taking pictures of minis.

X'Stacy - WIP?

Here is X'Stacy from CMON. I actually picked her up at my local game shop. I had passed her over a few times and she kept taunting me with her silly name every time I went in there. So I snagged her up about a week and a half ago.   I thought I had finished up this one until I started looking at the pictures on my computer. I didn't follow my normal routine of taking wip pictures to see all the flaws on screen that I can't see with my bad vision, and now I have to go back and fix a bunch of stuff.  There is a bunch of blending I need to do and I need to sharpen up and clean up other parts.  So for now here is a few WIP pictures of what I thought was going to be a finished picture.   I was experimenting with some new unconventional colors for flesh tones and they have been kinda a pain to work with but so for I really like them.
I also ended up getting some pigment on the grass so I need to go in and trim that out. I went with a simple base design as I didn't want to overwhelm the figure especially after working on my last figures (picnic piece).
So tonight it's back at it and hopefully i'll have updated shots tomorrow.
